Handheld Management Guide
Third-party applications that are not assigned a specific application control policy are assigned the
default application control policy that shipped on the handheld.
Define IT policies for third-party applications
Set IT policies to permit third-party applications to be loaded onto handhelds or prevent the applications
from being loaded.
1. In the BlackBerry Manager, on the Global tab, click Edit Properties.
2. Click IT Policy.
3. In the IT Policy Administration section, double-click IT Policies.
4. Click New.
5. Double-click IT Policy Name.
6. Type a new policy name.
7. Add the third-party application IT policy rules to the new policy.
8. Click OK.
Viewing the status of IT policy changes
When you apply an IT admin task or change the IT policy applied to a user, the status of the IT policy
change displays in the BlackBerry Manager, in the Policy Status column.

Tip: To view the Policy Status column, move the scroll box to the right.
Status of IT policies Description
Pending This status indicates that there is new data waiting to be sent to the handheld and, or desktop.
Processing This status indicates that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is sending the change to the user. This status
should not display for an extended period of time. If the status does not change within a short time,
the status of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server might have changed while it was processing the request.
Sent This status indicates that the IT policy change has been sent wirelessly to the handheld and, or desktop,
but the user has not yet received the change.
Received This status indicates that the handheld and, or desktop received the IT policy change, but the
BlackBerry Enterprise Server has not received an error or a success message to indicate if the change
has been applied.
