Why do I need a BlackBerry ID to use BBM?

A BlackBerry ID is required before you can use certain BBM features, such as BBM Voice and BBM Channels.

By logging in with a BlackBerry ID, your BBM contacts are backed up over the wireless network, which makes it easier to

restore your BBM data if you switch BlackBerry smartphones.

What sounds can I set for BBM?

You can set notification options—such as tone, LED, or vibration—for BBM in the sounds application by editing a sound

profile to customize the following BBM items:

• The BBM New Message item is for incoming messages.

• The BBM Voice Chat item is for incoming voice chats.

• The BBM Groups item is for BBM Groups.

• The BBM Alert item is for availability notifications that you set for a contact.

BlackBerry smartphone.
